At the Art House with think that art is integral to living a healthy and thriving life. It helps bring us together, process our feelings, and gives us space in our heads away from all the noise that clamours to distract. 

No one should be left out. That's why we are pleased to offer a wide variety of experiences this Autumn for any ability or budget.

Many of these themed workshops are perfect to bring a confident younger person to so why not treat a young person in your life and spend a Friday evening or Saturday morning making something together?

Hand-Coloured Lino Print Workshop // 10.00-16.30 // Saturday 4 November // Gerard Hobson // £75

Create and print a winter scene with lino and hand-colour to make the ideal Christmas gift or art for your wall. You will design, print and hand colour a number of Lino prints which you will take home with you. This workshop is only suitable for those who have had some previous experience of making a Lino print. All materials will be provided.


Spinning Workshop // 10.00-16.00 // Saturday 25 November // Dee Sayce // £70

Make your own yarn using the ancient craft of spinning, this is a satisfying way to create your own colourful and textured yarn to use in knitting, crochet or textile craft projects.


Rag Rug Making Workshop // 10.30-16.00 // Saturday 9 December // Dee Sayce // £70

Learn how to make your own rag rug using traditional hooking and prodding techniques. Explore how to make rag rugs with recycled fabric on a backing cloth of hessian or sisal, create different effects using a variety of rag rug tools and techniques. During the workshop you will be assisted with designing and make a start to create your own small rag rug, seat pad or cushion.


Indigo Tie Dyeing Workshop // 10.00-16.00 // Saturday 16 December // Dee Sayce // £70

Learn how to dye fabric a natural blue colour with an indigo dye vat. We will use natural extract from the indigo plant which is native to the tropics, notably the Indian Subcontinent. Suitable for all abilities, all equipment and are materials provided. Wear clothes that you don't mind getting messy, or bring an apron. You are welcome to bring a small amount of white clean fabric, yarn or fleece to add to the indigo dye vat.

A unique chance to work with professional burlesque artists in all their feathers and sequins. This is a two-session all day workshop.


Shadow Puppet Workshop // 10.00-16.30 // Saturday 18 November // Colette Cameron // £65

A workshop for the whole family from age 7 - 70 years

Make a story, create characters, build scenery and direct your own show!

A fantastic, fun day which takes you through the stages of Shadow Puppet craft beginning with designing and building your own character with moving parts. Learn how to move your puppet so that it comes alive on the screen, and develop an adventure story along with supporting characters, props and even sound effects. By the end of the day we all get sit back and enjoy everyone's unique creations as they perform 

Children must be accompanied by a parent or carer.

A creative workshop which explores the psychology of what holds us back creatively. For anyone who has wanted to do more painting or drawing or writing and has found it surprisingly hard to get started!

Come and have a creative day making a beautiful mosaic decoration. Choose from an Angel , a Star , a Tree or a Robin. A day of learning the techniques of mosaic using specific tools and choosing from a huge range of materials to create a piece of mosaic art.

Welcome to Sketch Club! This is drawing with an emphasis on relaxation and fun through mark-making! Drawing together (pun intended!) you will have room to explore ideas; try out new styles; and have space to sketch and scribble in a light-hearted and friendly atmosphere.
