Slipware is identified by the application of slip to leather-hard clay as the primary decoration process, often coated with a clear glaze to enhance colours and provide a durable, food-safe surface.
Using a range of coloured slips, participants will be introduced to a number of slip decorating techniques such as wet slip inlay, paper resist, sgrafitto, brushing, sponging, stencilling and mono printing. In addition to making a number of practice tiles, you will be taught soft slab building techniques, which you will then use to make a series of forms to be decorated with your newly acquired slip decorating skills.
In weeks 6 & 7 you will be encouraged to tackle a personal project with help and ideas from your tutor!
Finished work will be available for collection 4 weeks after the course finishes.
Please see the "Policies" menu for our COVID-19 and cancellation policies.
